Notes
Individual:
William and his brother, James, were part of Captain John Thompson's

South Hampshire Volunteers in a relief expedition to besieged Louisburgh.
William fought in Wolfe's army at the battle of Quebec.

William made an exploratory visit to the Onslow area with his cousin,
Colonel Alexander McNutt in 1759 and brought his family there in the
summer of 1760. His wife and children returned to Massachusettes for the
winter and returned in 1761.

A Grantee of Onslow Twp., William settled in Onslow, NS in 1761 and was
given land grants in 1763 and 1769. William was a Farmer, Carpenter, and
soldier. Architect and builder of the First Presbyterian Church in
Onslow, NS. There is a story that at the grand opening of the church
William tried to walk the ridge, and fell off. This church was raised
in1780, but not finished inside until some years later.
