Mary Richardson was born 9 Dec 1870 to John Jabas Richardson and Mary Douglas in Burford, Ont. She was the seventh child in a family of nine children. Little has been passed on about her childhood. At the age of 26 she married Andrew Baird in Eastwood. Her life paralleled that of Andrew's on the farm in Eastwood. Mary however kept very good records of family births, marriages and deaths, recording them in the family bible. It was these notations that gave credence to most of the Richardson and Douglas genealogy research. Through these records we are able to trace the Richardson family back to 1797 and before.
Mary's siblings were William (b. 1862) married to Zillah E. Branchflower, Maggie J. (b. 1863) married to Royal Brink, John (b. 1864) married to Mary Parker, Fred (b. 1866) married to Violet Skidmore, Annie (b. 1867) married to Alfred Houston, Elsie (b. 1869) married to John Muir, Jennie (b.1872, d. 1874), and David (b. 1874) married to Louise Fair. Most lived and stayed in the Burford area with the exception of David who went to Toronto and Fred who moved to Hayter, Alberta.
