| Burial: Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Seattle, WA |
Individual:
Daniel Francis Leary III was raised by his grandparents, Daniel Francis Leary Sr. and Jane Marie Clark Leary after his parents were killed in an accident in ABT 1899
On March 18, 1936 Dan was found dead in the office building at 2313 3rd Ave where he had been staying. The children has Scarlet Fever and the house was quarantined. He fell close to a heater, and sustained burns on his legs, but cause of death was pneumonia.
His wife, Karen , attempted to get widow's benefits from his service in World War I, in the Signal Corp, but no records could be found.
Dan was working for the IRS as an accountant at the time of his death. His wife, Karen, received a letter of condolence on IRS letterhead. An inquiry was sent to the records office of the IRS and after a year and a half they returned it, saying they could find no record of his employment. They said that he must have been working for a "contractor" and that is why they had no record. (To my knowledge no "contractor" is given IRS Letterhead to conduct its business)
