Individual:
Karen was born at 156 Newton Street, Queen Ann Hill, Seattle, the home her father had built when he came to Seattle.
Karen worked for J.C. Penney for a number of years and was devastated when they "retired" her. She supplemented her income by baby sitting. She loved to play BINGO and dressed up every Halloween in her fake "Nose, mustache and glasses". She died her hair red for years and had a wonderful sense of humor. She and her sister Edna were very close and they spent many hours together joking and crocheting together. When Karen fell and broke her hip in 1977 she continued to show the "spunk" and determination she had throughout all the years she struggled to raise her boys by herself. When she had a stroke however, she became frustrated and some of her
determination left her. After her leg had to be amputated in November 1979, she lost the will to live and passed away. I will always remember her laugh and how she used to get down on the floor with us and play. She loved children.
