Obituary of William Everett Cruse, Hardin County, Illinois

William Everett Cruse was born January 18, 1901 died December 15, 1929 at East Alton, Illinois. Everett was the eldest son of Anna B. Pennell by a former marriage. He was married to Miss Phoebe Hobbs September 16th, 1922.

Everett's friends were numbered by those who made his acquaintance. He will be greatly missed in the many circles of life especially the church and Sunday school. He professed faith in Christ in 1923 and united with the Mt. Zion Church in Hardin Co., and ever afterwards lived a devoted Christian even in his last hours singing praises to our Christ the King.

We feel that our loss is heaven's gain and while we mourn his leave here below the Lord has said, "Come unto me all that Labor, and heavy laden and I will give you rest."

Those left to mourn are his companion, Mrs. Phoebe Cruse, his mother, Anna B. Pennell, four sisters, one brother and one half brother namely: Gertie Grounds, Ethal McDowell, a twin Phene Richeston, Lois Hobbs, Loyd Cruse and Seba Pennell also his grandfather William Winters, two aunts, three uncles besides many relatives and friends.

Weep not friends for even the hope of the future is the brighter.

Funeral services were conducted by the writer at Mt. Zion in Hardin county in the presence of his sorrowing friends after which all that was mortal of Brother Everett was conveyed to the Adams Cemetery there laid to rest to await the Great Judgement when all shall come forth to answer to the final call.
