Per Scott Family a History and Tradition:
In June 1845, Elisha, nephew of Spencer, son of Stephen came and located in Brandon
township, one half mile north of Seymour Lake, Benjamin, another son of Matthias, came
in 1848 and settled in Brandon, near the Lapeer County line. Fanny, and her husband,
Frederick Shurtz, followed, locating in Orion township in 1850.
Others who came later were Elisha's brothers: Jackson and Stephen and his sisters:
Catherine, who married Robert Carr DeWitt; and Hannah, who married Bradford
Skellenger. Also the daughters of Matthias: Elizabeth, who married Richard Laurence;
and Rebecca, who married William Allen.
