Obituary
Sarah Ann Armstrong, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Armstrong, was born near Oquaka, Illinois, February 10, 1855, and answered the summons to "Come up higher" on Wednesday, June 7, 1922. at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 27 days.
When she was fourteen or fifteen years of age her family removed from Illinois to Van Buren county, Iowa, and on November 21, 1882, she was united in marriage with W. H. C. Jenkins, of which union four children were born, one of whom, O.C. was called in death at the age of four years.
She is survived by her devoted husband, W.H. C. Jenkins, by three children: Mrs. Alvin Kerr of Chambersberg, Missouri, James S. Jenkins of Luray, Missouri, and N. C. Jenkins of Luray, Missouri, also one step-daughter, Mrs. George Mills, of Granger, Missouri, two brothers, James Armstrong of Kahoka, Missouri, and William Armstrong of Mt. Sterling, Iowa and two sisters , Nellie Armstrong of Terre Haute, Indiana; a number of grandchildren and a host of friends who will mourn her passing.
Following her marriage with Mr. Jenkins, they resided on a farm in the Bethlehem community, in northwestern Clark County, for some 35 years, removing to Kahoka some five years ago. Beside her own children she reared to maturity four step-children, and has been a mother to her little grandchild, Pauline Jenkins, whose mother died when Pauline was an infant.
Some 19 years ago she professed faith in Christ and united with Bethlehem Baptist Church, under the ministry of Rev. W. M. Cooney, and remained a faithful member of this body until death. Her long years of quiet devotion to home and loved ones, and her unswerving fidelity to the church have furnished abundant proof that her faith was well grounded. For the past ten years her health has been gradually failing, and from a long, lingering illness she has passed to the rest that remaineth for the people of God.
The funeral service will be held from the Bethlehem Baptist Church at 2:00 o'clock P.M.. M. on Friday, June 9, and interment will be made in the Bethlehem cemetery.
