RESEARCH - the most recent item of information on Mary Moss Williams Welsby is the emigrati on record in 1863. As Mary & William Welsby emigrated with Sarah Green and her little family, I feel they were close to Blackburn in 1861. Sarah, with her husband and family, is listed there with Jane and James Backhouse. We do not know when Mary married William Welsby or by what name she married him - she may have married again after Samuel Williams died abt 1831. - we do not know for sure what name to look for. Perhaps review film #543079 for any Mary age 57 to 61?? (Blackburn includes films 543077-078- 079-080.) Order film 543079 to CTWD first - Backhouse family here.
Second, order film 543077 - we have not read that film yet - We do not have a listing fo r Thomas in Blackburn census in 1861. He was rebaptized in Accrington in 1866. Perhaps Mary is living by Thomas in 1861.?? FIND THOMAS and look for any Mary age 57 to 61. #543072 is the census film which includes Accrington. Perhaps she still lives in Burnley where the three children were baptized in 1844??. #543073 and #543074 are the census films that include Burnley. Universal Genealogy Research: 8 Dec 1989 "The 1800 entry is possiblity for additonal researc h since Mary Ann named a daugher Sarah, possibly after her mother. In addition, Richard Moss was a mariner, indicating he may have lived in several parishes, perhaps moving to the Bury area, where Mary Ann met and married Samuel Williams, as well as gave birth to her first son, Thomas.
