Henry "Hank" Gauger lists Charles as the father of Peter Cole Sr. proof received. Henry Gauger, 1321 Offshore St., Oxnard, CA 93035 (2005); his wife's mother was nee Ona Cole (who married a Ruplis) [Jim] Yes, other internet sources say the same thing. [Jim]
Something about l'Assomption. L'Assomption is a small city in the l'Assomption county of Quebec province, on the l'Assomption River. It is a city at the east of Montréal. From my home place it takes about one hour to go there. A few years ago i got a stage there for a few weeks. A pretty nice place. Charles Charbonneau and Marguerite Landry fot their firs children their ans the last one's in L'Acadie very nesr of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. L'Acadie is in the same county than St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. (Johanne Gladu)
married in L'Assomption in 1778 and lived there at least until 1792
Apparently Charles' family moved to L'Acadie, St. Jean, Quebec, Canada around 1793. The family of his brother Louis also moved to L'Acadie.
Other sources say he was born 1 Apr 1753 in L'Assomption, L'Assomption, Quebec, Canada
When Charles wedded Josephte Nolet in 1803, it lists a brother "Joseph Charbonneau"
