From obit notice: Mrs. J. M. Crail, formerly of south of Arnett and a pioneer woman of this section, died at the home of her son, Earl Crail, of nearby Catesby, on Monday, October 26th, following an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Crail had been in failing health for the past two years.
Mary Forrest was born in Linn county, New Boston, Missouri, July 7th, 1871, and died near Catesby, Ellis County, Oklahoma, October 24th, 1927, at the age of 56 years, 3 months and 17 days.
She was united in marriage to John M. Crail at New Boston, Missouri in the year 1889, to this union were born nine children, seven of whom survive the mother. Mrs. Crail also leaves four brothers, three sisters and fourteen grand children. The husband and two children having preceded her in death.
The surviving children are: Earl Crail of Catesby; Oscar of Oskalossa, Iowa; Paul of Oklahoma City; John of Arnett; Mrs. Hazel Shepherd of Shattuck; Mrs. Mable Shepherd of Moorewood and Mrs Nellie James of Okmulgee.
She was converted to the Christian faith at the age of 13 years and became a member of that church. She has lived a devoted christian life, doing her full share towards rearing her family in the christian faith.
Mrs. Crail was a good neighbor, a kind and loving mother and a good wife, whose passing leaves a thought of saddness in every heart who knew her.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church at Arnett, Oklahoma, Wednesday October 26th, 1927, by Rev. Arlie Hunt, Pastor of the Christian Church Shattuck, interment made at the Debolt Cemetery.
Death Certificate gives date of birth as July 7, 1871, died at age 56 years 3 months, 17 days. Name of father James Forest. Name of mother Margaret Bonifield born in Virginia. Informant A. H. James, Arnett, OK. Gives cause of death as perniceous anemia of 2 year duration. Burial at DeBolt Cem.
