DeWITT CLINTON JORDAN, d. at Mt. Jackson, 1878; m. in 1869, LELIA PAYNE SIGLER, b. at "Shenstone," the home of her parents, near Mt. Jackson, Va.; d. July 2, 1874. He was a captain in the Confederate army and displayed undaunted courage in some of the fiercest conflicts of war; was wounded in the right arm at the second battle of Manassas. He was taken prisoner, Dec. 21, 1863, and sent to the Federal Prison at Camp Chase, O. and later to Ft. Delaware, where he was confined until after the surrender at Appomattox. He was a merchant after the war at Mt. Jackson, Va. (History of the Descendants of John Hottel, Page 701)
