Individual:
Eldest son of John Macon. since he was the eldest, the date of 1715 is a probable guess for h
is DOB. The Alston/Allston book gives his parents as Gideon Macon and Martha of New Kent County and has his date of birth as June 20, 1682.
His home, Macon Manor, built near the new court house, was the only one to boast glass window s. He was a prosperous tobacco farmer.
Thomas Allen notes: Gideon emigrated to upper North Carolina between 1730 and 1740. He acquir ed land on Shocco creek in what is now Warren County. His house was the first house in the county to have glass windows. He was an Episcopalian and a vestryman of St. John's Parish. In 1756 he was Justice of the Peace of Granville County. At the time of his death he possessed 3000 acres and 25 to 30 shares. He died in Granville (now Warren) County between 1761 and February 1762--most likely in early 1762.
