the war for independence; married Nancy Lee, of a Virginia family of Lees. He was one of t he first settlers of Logan County , Ky. where he engaged in farming. Mrs. Mary Lawler was a daughter of David and Eliza- beth (VanDyke) Neely who were reared in upper Kentucky, and moved to Logan County about 1802, where they remained on a farm during life. David Neely was a son of James Neely, who was born in Scotland; immigrated to America before the revolution and settled in Simpson County, Ky., about 1800, where he entered lands. Elizabeth VanDyke , the grand-mother of our subject, was the daughter of Garret VanDyke, who married a Miss Stone. Henry C. was reared on farm and received a common English education. At the age of twenty three he commenced the struggle of his life for himself on a farm. He has been con-stantly employed in tilling the soil and mak-ing a happy home forhis family. He married, January 1865, Angie Louisa Holland, of Simpson County, a daughter of Joel and America (Perkins) Holland, who were born respectively in Maryland and Virginia, came to Kentucky about 1825, and settled in Lo-gan, now Simpson county.
