Individual:
PERSON HISTORY OF D48- (John) Eli LENTZ.
Born 10 or 12 Jul 1825 in Rowan Co., NC, died 28 Mar 1906, buried in Norwood, Stanly Co., NC. Married Elizabeth "Betty" Kirk on2 Dec 1847, probably in Iredell Co.. She was born 9 Feb 1827, died 11Apr 1891, 14 children.
After his birth in Rowan Co. he moved with family to Iredell where he shows as a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church on theirfirst roll wih "removed" following it. They raised their family atNorwood, Stanly Co., where the late Edith and Bess Ivey collected acomplete family history.
A Levi Lentz served in Rowan Co., as bondsman in the marriage of Kimbrell Kirk and Mary Eagle on 17 Aug 1858. (See p. 225, "RowanMarriages 1753-1868." LH is a little confusing here. It states one place that he was
born in Norwood, NC; elsewhere, it says he was born in Rowan, movedwith family to Iredell where he shows as a member of St Paul's LuthCh. on their first roll with "removed" following it. They raisedtheir large family in Norwood, Stanly Co., where the late Edith andBess Ivey collected the complete family history. I suspect that LH hada typographical error, showing "b." instead of "d;" if this assumptionis correct, he was born in Rowan Co. but died in Norwood, Stanly Co.,NC.
