!WILL: He had an estate probated on 23 Jun 1628. Known as Sir William Lovelace of Woolwich, is styled Sir William, the younger, of Bethersden in his will and inquisition post mortem. He was a member of the Virginia company and an incorporator in the second Virginia company in 1609. A soldier, he died during the war with Spain and Holland at the Seige of Grolle, Holland, a few days before the town fell. His will is as follows:" I, Sir William Lovelace of Bidersden, county of Kent, Knight, appoint my wife anne Lovelace and Thomas Twisden of Wie, County Kent, esquire, guardians of my children...I give them all my lands whatsoever in Bethereden, Holden (Sholden), Cart Magna, Shidonhurst, and Canterburie till my eldest son, Richard Lovelace attain the age of twenty-four...." The will was proved by Anne Lovelace, Relict, the other executor being dead.

William died August 12, 1627 in HOLLAND, at age 44. a member of the Virginia Company, and subscriber tot he second Charter, 1609. He was knighted September 20, 1609, was a soldier by profession, and was killed August 12, 1627 at the last siege of Groll in Holland, leaving a will July 15, 1622-23 June 1628, The inquisition post mortem, August 9, 1628 gives the date of his death.
He was a member of the Virginia Company.

William died August 12, 1627 in HOLLAND, at age 44. a member of the Virginia Company, and subscriber tot he second Charter, 1609. He was knighted September 20, 1609, was a soldier by profession, and was killed August 12, 1627 at the last siege of Groll in Holland, leaving a will July 15, 1622-23 June 1628, The inquisition post mortem, August 9, 1628 gives the date of his death.
Father of poet, Richard Lovelace. Baptized on 12 Feb 1584 in St. Alphege,Cantebury, England. Died on 12 Aug 1627 in Groll, Holland. Known as SirWilliam Lovelace of Woolrich, is styled Sir William Lovelace, theyounger, of Bethersden in will signed on 15 Jul 1622. He was member ofthe Virginia Company and an incorporator in the second Virginia Companyin 1609. A soldier, he died during the war with Spain and Holland in thesiege of Groll Holland, a few days before the town fell.
Married to Anne Barnes. Children include: Anne Lovelace; Richard Lovelace(12-09-1617); Thomas Lovelace (1620-1689) who died in Staten Island NewYork; Francis Lovelace (1621-1686), Governor of New York (1668-1673),served as Colonel for forces loyal to Charles I during English Civil War.
