Individual:
Enlisted in Co. D, 47 Ky Aug 11, 1863. Measles Sept. 1863. Aff: bro David B. Nov. 22, 1885: Waited on him when sick in Army; Measles at Irvine KY and while he was sick the regiment marched to Camp Nelson during a wet sloppy time and he had a relapse spitting up blood. The regiment went to Manchester where encamped he caught pneumonia in Mar. 10, 1864. At Manchester he was treated by Dr Stephen Bates in a shanty and then furloughed home. Returned to the command May 6, 1864. I have lived a near neighbor, David's mark X. Aff: Nancy Bishop ( Mother), Mar. 10, 1864 his father brought him home from Manchester . It 'takon' 3 days to get him 20 miles. He sayed home 2 -3 months and Dr. Bates left 'medison' . He returned to service . He lived with us for 4 or 5 years unable to work after discharge. Aff: Abel Bishop (Father) : Age 72, Out of my 5 boys I have raised, John was the healthiest, stoutest boy and was at enlistment. Of the 5 he was never diseased. Mar. 10, 1864 , I and his mother brought him from Manchester on furlough, him being sick; it took 3 days to bring him the 20 miles. We waited on him 2-3 months. I have never lived more than 1/2 mile away. Address Narrows; his mark Able B. wit: David B & Nancy B.
Aff: Joseph Allen- b. in 1850, I was in the same hospital, same bed, PO Narrows. Aff Job Allen b1851, PO Narrows. Aff: Samuel Combs- Same regiment lived one mile apart since war. Aff: Patrick Napier Merchant , known him since 1850. Aff: Robert R. Howard: 52 lived 2 miles appart since 1850; JB is a good moral sittisen; worked for me.
