Individual:
Civil War Pension Application: Enrolled on Aug. 11, 1863 in Co. D, 47th Ky Mounted Infantry (He must have taken a horse from home), Comanded by Capt. David M. Clark. Discharged at Lexington Dec. 26, 1864. Personal description in 1887 ' Age 51, Height 6 ft. , Complexion Light, Eyes Blue,. While on duty at Camp Wilson, Estill Co. Ky he contacted measles and from repeated exposure he 'took cold on them' resulting in lung disease. Has been a 3/4 disabled farmer. P.O. address is Teges. Affidavit by David C. Cole says DB was put in the 'hosspittle' and had bloody dischages and Cole waited on him. Cole's address was Tankersley. Camp Wilson was in Irvine. Other Affiants from his unit: Granville Combs, & Joseph Allen. Dr. Glass who became a major citizen of Booneville was in the unit and treated DB while in the army, also he was treated by Dr. Daniels. His Dr's after army were D.V. Morgan of Sextons Creek . The Pension board Dr reported from London Ky: PO of claimant - Tedious, certifies his illness, pulse rate 65/min, respiration 22, temp 98.5, ht 6', wt 150 lbs age 51. Southern Div. claim # 624339. Death May 28, 1889. Widows claim see Mary Bishop.
Professor JIm Brown's notes in 1942 is that Monroe Bishop told him David Bishop and wife Mary Bishop were second cousins.
