. " recently saw your entry on rootsweb for John Clark Mansfield. He was my great-grandfather. I have the genealogy you mention, but I have also been trying to research the family in England. I know the first Mansfield to come over was Richard Mansfield from Exeter. I have seen some postings which indicate that Richard was a descendant of Lancelot Mansfield but I have not been able to locate any documentation about who Richard's father was. I was able to send for a copy of the marriage entry for Richard Mansfield and Gillian Drake from St. Mary Arches Church in Exeter. Have you been able to locate any documented information regarding the English ancestry of Richard Mansfield?"
