It is unknown whether Abigail came to the colonies with Richard. However, it is said by some that their last child, John, was born in VA, not England, in which case she would obviously have been in VA. Nevertheless, this is not proven, and many researchers do claim John was born in England as were his five older siblings.

But clearly Abigail died before Richard. It was his daughter Margaret who was Executrix of his will, along with her brother Lewis. Thus Abigail deceased before the will was written; otherwise, she would hve been mentioned in it.

Many have mistaken Richard's wife's name to be Elizabeth. This error derives from the fact that daughter-in-law Elizabeth was joint Executrix of Richard's will, leading some to hastily conclude that Elizabeth was Richard's wife.
