WILLIAM, EARL OF WARWICK, 1st son and heir. In 1166 he sent in his carta for 105? knights' fees. He seems to have taken no part in politics and his name never occurs as a witness to royal charters. He founded the chapel of St. John the Baptist, Warwick, was a benefactor of the Templars and ratified gifts to various monastic bodies.

He married, 1stly, Margery, daughter of John D'EIVILE. He married, 2ndly, before 28 December 1175, Maud, 1st daughter and coheir of William DE PERCY, by his 1st wife, Alice DE TONBRIDGE. He died s.p. in 1184, it is said on 15 November in the Holy Land. His widow died s.p. between Michaelmas 1202 and 13 October 1204 and was buried in Fountains Abbey. [Complete Peerage XII/2:362-3, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
