There is a listing for a James POWELL in the 1880 Carroll Co., TN census (109). He is 49, M. S. 41 (f), W. R. 20 (m), L. B. 15 (f), and Mollie 13. Unknown if this is the correct person. The James listed here is not a son to Dempsey and Caroline or even the first wife, but entered here for research purposes only. There is a Powell Cemetery, one mile south from Whitlock on the right hand side of the road, one hundred yards from the road with several POWELL listings, include a James and Kate Powell.
