Notes 
Individual:
Elmer Powell, of Dallas, and a descendant from this line had old family notes passed down in his family, which indicated that Caroline was a descendant of a German family probably brought over by the British as a Hessian soldier to fight for the British in the Revolutionary War. Elmer's mother's genealogy notes indicate Caroline's maiden name might have been BENJAMIN.
Caroline Powell applied for guardianship 1866 to minors Robert F. & George, orphans of Dempsey Powell dec'd (Henry Co., TN court records). Signing these papers with her were W. A. Morphis and B. A. Powell.
On the 1870 Henry Co., TN census, PO Mansfield, p. 299, h.52, she appears as C. POWELL 45yrs old Property value $800, personal property value $600. Also listed are R. F. POWELL 19 (attending school) and G. D. (m) (attending school). In h.51 is F. E. Dunlap WM26 (School Teacher), and S. H. DUNLAP WM47 farmer and family.
After her husband's death, her name is found in Deed Book #1 1822-1883 as Grantor of 101acres Book T p. 581 sold to F. W. COCHRAN.
There is a will recorded for Caroline POWELL in Henry Co., TN Will book Vol. J p.182 (Aug. 1865-Mar. 1889). I have not yet seen this document.
