"Saw your posting on the Gordon query message board and thought I would answer. I am descended from Benjamin Edgar Gordon born 10/5/1847. He was married to Eliza Mayes however I have her birth date listed in the family bible as 2/24/1853. Eliza died 11/24/1907 in childbirth to their son Robert (b.11/18/1907) and they are buried together in Fairview Cemetery, Shawnee, Pottawatomie county, OK. In any case their son John Edward Gordon b. 12/1/1881 d. 3/14/1949 married Sarrah Mandy/ Catherine Denson (b. 7/29/1884 New Site, Mississippi d. 1/18/1950 Shawnee, OK) on 8/4/1901 in Ardmore, Indian Territory, OK daughter of Ezra Daly Denson and his wife Ellen. John and "Mandy" had three children: William "Bill", Alfred "Shorty", Clara and Verna Mae b. 2/18/1918 Shawnee, OK. John and Mandy owned a laundry in Shawnee and the children attended school there. Bill died of a heart attack, his wife was named Barbara and they had two children. Shorty wife's name was Florence (still living) and their daughter Lois lives in Ft. Worth. Clara married Elmer Denson (her uncle) and they had no children and have been deceased for years. Verna (still living) married Charles Dennis DeHart (b. 6/8/1918 and d. 7/15/1967 Shawnee, OK) son of Josh and Nora DeHart. He was a captain with the Shawnee police. Together they had three children, Wayne, Gary and Linda. Wayne who is deceased was my father but Gary and Linda are still living.
