Ambrose was a famous Baptist minister and founded many churches in Southern Kentucky and Middle Tennessee. Ed Bayliff Research: Deed Bk N p 275, Fayette Co. Ky is the record of a deed by Ambrose Bourne and Mary, his wife, of Logan County for $3,000 to John
Richardson of land lying on the waters of Marble Creek. 101 acres in the tract. Ambrose and Jane Marriage Record Automated Archives Orange Co., VA 3/5/1796. "Died in Tennessee the Rev. Ambrose Bourne, of the Baptist denomination--Feb 28, 1824" and "Died in Tennessee the Rev. Ambrose Bourne, A most valuable Minister of the church of Christ, in the Baptist denomination. --Jan 17, 1824" Virginia Vital Records,Indexed by Judith McGhan, Gen. Pub. Co., Inc. 1982. p.170.

A great great grandson, William Bourne, is reported to have found Rev. Ambrose's tombstone being used to prop open a door on the farm. (Dave Whitfield).
