RAYMOND D. JAMES

MADISON and WOODLAND -- Raymond D. James, 74, died March 4, 1978, at a Skowhegan hospital. He was born Oct. 6, 1903, at Princeton, son of Merton and Georgia Dodge James. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gladys Larson James of Madison; a step-mother, Mrs. Viola James of Oakfield; two sons, Carleton of Limestone, and Robert of Mercer; a daughter, Miss Theresa James of Madison; four brothers, Virgil of Portland, Richard of Bethel, Merton, Jr. and Francis, both of Oakfield; four sisters, Mrs. Pansy Elsemore of Princeton, Mrs. Catherine Haley of Bangor, Mrs. Florence Boynton of Houlton and Miss Gloria James, Jonesport; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Woodland, with the Rev. Lucian McKeone officiating. Burial will be in the spring. Friends may gather at the Everett L. Scott Funeral Home, Broadway, in Woodland. Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
