Mary Phyllis Boicourt Ogg was born Sept. 8, 1893 in Ottawa, KS. to Walter Boicourt and Edith Porter Boicourt. Phyllis's father died in an accident in 1897 and Edith married "Dad" Fitzgerald to help raise the family. Dad Fitzgerald was a former sea captain and well traveled and settled down in Ottawa Kansas to be a court reporter. Although Phyllis was not well educated, she was very well read. She actively read editorials and wrote to newspapers and magazines about politics and events of the day. Grandmother Phyll was very interested in genealogy and was the source of much of the family information that was recorded for Oggs, Boicourts, and Pontons. She had a large garden and really loved her flowers! She died in 1976 in Ottawa.
