Title: Notes
Text:
Phyllis and Courtney Ogg spent the majority of their lives in Ottawa, KS. They did
move to Oregon for a short period of time in 1918 to have a chicken ranch. They
pulled a trailer with their belongings over the mountains from Kansas to Eugene,
OR. This trip took nearly 6 months in a 4 door Maxwell. They arrived in the fall
and after several months of terribly rainy weather they sold their belongings to
get train tickets back to Kansas.
They raised two fine boys, James Boicourt Ogg and Howard Courtney Ogg.
Courtney managed a grocery store and Phyllis kept the home and farm. Over the
years, they raised sheep, cattle, chickens, ducks, and guinea hens at the farm.
Many of their farm products found their way to their grocery store. Courtney was
a very personable retailer, he enjoyed his customers! Phyllis worked hard to help
with the eggs, milk, and butter as well as garden products!
