The Island's Tree | WOLFE, HOWE, GARDEN, SIMCOE AND AMHERST ISLANDS The ISLANDS TREE contains linked families from Wolfe Island, Howe Island, Garden Island, Simcoe Island and Amherst Island. Amazingly, through marriages, there are no breaks in the tree...if you're related to one...you are connected to all. The tree has grown to "28340” individuals.
Family files from the descendants of original Islanders continue to arrive. Submitters have been credited on the page of the individual they have submitted.I continue to add individuals through birth, marriage, death and census material as records become available.
PLEASE check back. We update the file quarterly with additions and corrections to family lines. And, don’t forget to check the Islands webpage for family researchers (descendants) listed by island and surname.
Key for additional searching: Search by letter (see bottom of page), A, B, C, etc., not only by a specific spelling. Searching names on the tree: There are a number of family surnames with spellings that were interchangeable, changed from French to English, mispelled, etc., when entered into original documents. Any person with a "/" surname reflects this "problem." For example, McDonald/MacDonald/McDonnell; Kiel/Keill/Keill, Gonneau/Gagnon.
Also, some names can be represented by more than one spelling. These are shown by (--) For example, Kane (Cain). Hopefully, this will offer some continuity and ease in searching.
