Baptized 2/21/1621 in Great Yarmouth, MArried Francis Nourse of Salem; she was executed for witchcraft on July 19, 1692, having been acquitted on her first trial, but later rearrested and convicted, her attitude throughout demonstrating the highest nobility of character; Francis Noruse distributed his estate among their children in 1694
Rebecca Towne Nurse(Nourse) was the first child of William Towne & Joanna Blyssyng(Blessing) of Topsfield, Mass. Born 16 July 1621 in Yarmouth, Norfolk, England.
She married Francis Nourse 22 Aug. 1644. She died along with her sister, Mary Towne Estey, 22 Sept. 1692, in the Salem witch trail hangings on Gallows Hill.
Inscription: memorial marker- erected 1885. Body location unknown.

Note: Hung in the Salem Village witch trials
On July 3, Rebecca Nurse was excommunicated -- "abandoned to the devil a nd eternally damned." On July 19 she was driven in a cart with four oth er women to Gallows Hill where she was hung. Tradition says that at midnig ht Francis Nurse, his sons and sons-in-law found Rebecca's body in the com mon grave where it had been flung and carried it home for a proper burial.
