Altha Tweedy Lee
Altha Odelle Tweedy Lee, 88, of 398 Milton Farm Road in Madison Heights, died Friday Oct. 26. 2001. She is survived by her husband of70 years, C. Rupert Lee.
Born Aug. 7, 1913 in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Veda Mae Wilkerson Tweedy.
Altha was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed hosting large family gatherings. She was a life-long member of Oakdale Baptist Church andparticipated in most of its activities.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew Tweedy, Boyd Tweedy and Ira Tweedy and four sisters, Eunice Williams, BerthaWilliams, Verna Herndon and Margaret Sipe.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Fay and Marvin May of Lynchburg, Joyce and Ted Ramsey,Becky and Mike Cox of Madison Heights and Nancy and Roger Tomlin ofWoodbridge; two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Rachel Lee and Rogerand Michelle Lee of Madison Heights; 16 grandchildren, David May,Kevin May, Keith Ramsey, Kyle Ramsey, Trevor Ramsey, Anette Davis,Carol Loveday, Mark Lee, Matthew Cox, Philip Cox, Rebekah Cox, BrandonCox, Kristen Cox, Jennifer Malone, Daniel Tomlin and Sara Tomlin and20 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by three sisters, Laura Lankford of Chattanooga, Tenn., Virginia Blankenship of Forest and Ida Bolling ofLynchburg and one brother, Rector (Rex) Tweedy of Madison Heights.
The family wwill receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights.
Services will be held Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001 at 2 p.m. in Oakdale Baptist Church in Madison Heights by the Rev. Terry Wornstaff and theRev. Robert E. Lee. Burial will follow in Meade Cemetery in MadisonHeights.
