Title: Notes
Text:
Asa Blanchard Snow was fatally injured at 4 o'clock on a Monday afternoon
when a 210 shotgun he was carrying on his tractor accidently discharged. The
shot struck him in the breast, just above the heart. Asa had borrowed the
shotgun from a neighbor with the intention of shooting crows which were
bothering some of his small chicks. The gun was on the fender of his tractor and
somehow slipped.
After he was shot he walked about 200 yards, before he fell. My father, Gerald,
was with him. He ran to a nearby barn on the Oscar Churchwell farm to get
help. When he was found he was unconscious from a lack of blood and shock.
He was taken to the hospital in Shelbina where he died 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The funeral was held at Mt. Zion Church in Macon Country. There is a church
cemetery nearby. The service was held on a Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
