Individual:
George Austin, son of Isaac and Ann Beldin Austin, was born in 1796 in Canandaigua, Ontario Co NY. In 1815 he married Johannah Westcott, daughter of Nathan and Isabel Grinals Westcott.
George served for three months in the War of 1812. He was a private in Capt Justin R Spencer's Company of the NY Militia commanded by Col. Dobbins. He enlisted 1/12/1814 and was discharged 4/9/1814. His pension file indicates he received bounty lands of 40 acres #3342 and 120 acres #2715. The file also indicates "he was about 5 and 9/12 feet high of dark complections".
On April 22, 1816 George bought Lot 7 in Canandaigua,NY. In 1818 He and his wife sold land for $100 in Ontario Co that she had inherited from her father. Ontario Co Land Records Book 59 pg 284. In about 1823 he and his family moved to Warren, OH.
Their home was on South Street and for many years was the only one on the south side of the street beyond Pine Street. Mr Austin was familiarly known as "Squire" Austin. He was a mason and had the contract for some of the first brick buildings in Warren. PIONEER WOMEN OF THE WESTERN RESERVE pg 625.
George and Johanna had seven children, 5 boys and 2 girls before she died in 1845. That same year George married Martha Rose, daughter of William and Elizabeth Ferguson Rose. George and Martha had another eight children, 4 boys and 4 girls the last one born in 1860 two months after George died.
George was killed in Warren in 1860 by a runaway Horse. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren Twp, Trumbull Co,OH. His will is recorded in the 1860 Trumbull Co Record of Wills.
Martha Rose Austin is buried in Pierpont Cemetery, Pierpont OH. CEMETERY RECORDS OF ASHTABULA COUNTY, OHIO Ashtabula County Public Library, Jefferson, OH. Lois Cody was unable to locate the gravesite in an inspection in 1995. Martha applied for and received a pension of $12 per month as a result of he husband's War of 1812 service.

Following is a transcript from an Old Austin Bible, date missing, in the possession (1929) of Mrs. Marsh of Parkers Landing PA. ( One of George's daughters, Sally Ann, had married a George Parker about 1872 and died in Parker, Clarion Co PA in 1923) This Transcript was made by Dr Frances M Witmer, Tecarnawunna Chapter DAR LeRoy NY in 1929. It is published in NY BIBLE RECORDS Vol 12.

State of New York, Darien, Mar 10 1855
I, George Austin, was a private in the war against Great Britain of 1812; in service under Capt. Spencer ? months in Col. Dobbins' Regiment. I was hired by William Antis of Canandaigua, Ontario County, State of New York. We lay the most of the time at Williamsville, part of the time at Black Rock, State of New York. I went from Canandaigua, State of New York about the 10th or 11th of January 1814 & was honorably discharged at Williamsville, formerly Cat mile Creek on the 11th day of April 1814 about ni? months after I drew my pay at Canandaigua. I gave my discharge to the paymaster and he did not give it back to me. I was 17 years old the 20th day of December 1813.

I drew a Land warrant for forty acres but forgot to keep the Number. I also received a Land warrant for one hundred and twenty acres No. 2715 on the 20th of June 1855.
