Individual:
Joseph owned 766 acres in Monroe co and 6500 acres in Fayette and Raleigh Counties. His household lists two slaves, June and Catie and children.
1829, 15 September between James Cummings & Lucy and Robert Cummings Sr of one part and Joseph Lively of the other part all of Monroe Co. for $300.00 a certain tract of land on waters of Hans Creek containing 130 acres more or less on the south side of Hans Creek bordering Curtis Ballard, James Cummings, Adam Mann and Hutchison.
Joseph held land on Peters Mountain where he ran cattle and had a large deer park where 40 to 60 deer were kept.
1844 Joseph came to Paint Creek and made a deal with the Town Creek settler, Archibald Van Waters for 791 acre tract where the Van Waters cabin was located and received a deed from Commissioner Dickerson in 1846. This tract extended three quarters of a mile below Town Creek where it joined the Plum Orchard tract and an equal distance above, bordering the Horse Creek Property for some distance in the East.
First settler, Elias Lively, at age 19, came to Tom Creek in 1844 and settled upon the 791 acre Van Waters Tract.
Second settler, Rufus Lively settled about two miles up stream, at what later became the Long Branch community (Hance William Place ).
Third settler, Levi Lively, in the mid 1850's, brought his family to a large tract owned by his father on Paint Creek and settled on Plum Orchard Creek.
Fourth settler, Emily Lively, came with her husband Isaac Ellison from Mercer Co. in 1860's, and settled
near Lively at mouth of Plum Orchard.
