John M. Bolling was a grantee in 1848 from Levi Jones in
consideration of $225 (book 30 page 662), and from Thomas E. Moore in
1862 in consideration of $1000 (Book 46 page 327). John M. Bowlen is a
grantee in a real estate dee from Wm and Jonathan Welch in

"John Moss Bolling Dead. News was received this morning of the
death of Mr. John M. Bolling at his home three miles north of town.
Aged about 82 years. Deceased was widely known in this county where he
has lived for so many years. He was uncle to Messrs. J.L., J.W., and
John Sechrest. The funeral services will be held tomorrow and the
burial will probably be in the city cemetery." The High Point
Enterprise, March 11, 1903, page 3.
"JM Boling enrolled June 18, 1864 in Greensboro in the 7th NC
Senior Reserves, Co C (Johnson's). His age was listed as 48, height
6'1", complexion fair, hair black, eyes blue, occupation farmer,
birthplace Chatham Co. He was a POW of Johnson's army, paroled. May
17, 1865 under condition he not take up arms against the govt."
