BIRTH: In the 1851 census, she appears as age 12 next birthday, that is 12 after 12 Jan 1852
. According to the family tree written by Aunt Sadie Webb, Mary Ann was about a 5th generation Canadian, descended from "Lord Bruce Carmicheal Stewart," a legend it seems which is based upon her father's name.

DEATH: Mary Ann appears on the 1881 census with Gamaliel, but not on the 1891 census.
