Individual:
Moved to Tennessee from North Carolina about 1833 and settled in Haywood County. He was a very early member of the Zion Baptist Church, which is located about eight miles east of Brownsville, Tennessee. Also served as clerk of that church for a number of years. He was a leading member of the community in and around Brownsville. One of his cousins, George Outlaw, also moved to the area and was contracted to construct a larger Zion Baptist Church building.
Haywood County, Tennessee was informally known as "Little Bertie County" because of the large number of families moving into the area from Bertie County, North Carolina.
Middle name of Edward is based upon his signature on a deed by David E. Outlaw in Tennessee and his wife Lovy. The initial E is further assumed to be for Edward, his grandfather's name.
There is no formal record that could be found of David's burial but believe he was buried in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery because he was a founding member of the church and lived nearby at time of his death.
