I MAY BE ALL WET BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUBSTANTIATED INFORMATION THAT THE HASTINGS CAME FROM ENGLAND IN c.1792 AND THE STORY ABOUT THE HIGH SHERRIFF OF ENGLAND, HELPING WITH THE EPIDEMIC IN PHILADELPHIA ETC. ALTHOUGH THE STORY HAS BEEN SPREAD AROUND THE FAMILY THE STORIES ARE HEARSAY. I GOT THE INFORMATION FROM MY AUNT WHO GOT IT FROM A COUSIN. I BELIEVE THE COUSIN, IN GOOD FAITH, MAY HAVE HAD A GENEALOGY RESEARCH COMPANY FOR PROFIT DO A RESEARCH ON THIS DOWNS LINE AND CONSEQUENTLY THE STORIES AS IT SOUNDED GOOD AND IS WHAT THE CUSTOMER WANTED TO HEAR. I HAVE NO MORE PROOF ON THIS THAN THAT THE STORIES ARE TRUE. I JUST THINK IT STRANGE THAT NONE OF THIS CAN BE CONFIRMED.
IT IS A FACT, SEE BELOW, THAT THE HASTINGS WERE IN DELAWARE AREA WHERE CURTIS LIVED AT THE CORRECT TIME. HOW LIKELY IS IT THAT A FAMILY COMING TO AMERICA WHO WERE OF THE UPPER CLASS WOULD END UP MARRYING AN ILLITERATE FARMER? NOTHING WOULD PLEASE ME MORE TO PROVE THE HASTINGS CAME TO AMERICA IN 1793 AND I AM ALL WET.

Hi - Thanks for quick response about Hastings Farm Rd. I should have sent a separate 'Subject' email, as the Robt Hastings 1717 survey may or may not be same area.
Still wondering about location of 'Reedy Savannah, head of southmost branch of L. Crk.'
Margaret Hastings Hendrix
cc - Chuck Swift - Paul Hastings ("well into 80s") Is he and/or family in your files or reunion list?
Jim and Shirley Blackwell wrote: Hastings Farm Road, east of Seaford, is named for the farm of present day
Paul Hastings. I dont know how far back it goes in his family but his
father's place is across the road from his house. Paul Hastings must be well
into his 80s by now.... His farm is bounded on the north by Gravelly Branch.

=================================
NOW, ON TO ANOTHER AREA. FIRST, THANK YOU FOR SENDING FOR A SECOND TIME,
THE SILHOUETTE OF JUDITH HASTINGS HALL. I WAS ABLE TO PRINT IT OUT THIS
TIME AND MADE COPIES TO GIVE TO MY MOTHER AND HER BROTHERS. I THOUGHT
YOU MAY FIND OF INTEREST, THE REMARKS SHE MADE UPON HEARING OF THE
SILHOUETTE. BEFORE I EVEN SHOWED IT TO HER, SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD
SEEN AND HAD ONCE POSSESSED A COPY OF THE "SILHOUETTE" OF JUDITH. SHE
COMMENCED TO DESCRIBE IT TO ME RIGHT DOWN TO THE SHAPE OF THE HAT, THE
FOREHEAD AND THE LITTLE BOW THAT WAS ON THE DRESS! NOW, SINCE YOU
COMMENTED TO ME THAT YOU WERE NOT ENTIRELY SURE THAT THE SILHOUETTE WAS
REALLY JUDITH ( I agree that it probably can never be confirmed), I
THOUGHT THE FACT THAT THE SAME SILHOUETTE HAD CIRCULATED IN OUR BRANCHES
OF THE HALL FAMILY AS WELL AS IN YOURS, SHOULD SHOW THAT THERE IS SOME
VALIDITY TO THE ASSUMPTION AND BELIEF THAT IT IS WHO WE THINK IT IS-
JUDITH. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THAT? THE SILHOUETTE THAT MY MOM HAD
(SHE CAN NO LONGER FIND IT) WOULD HAVE COME TO HER, ONCE AGAIN, FROM
JANICE DOBBIE OF MICHIGAN. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IN THE SILHOUETTE THAT
YOU SENT ME AND THE ONE MY MOTHER REMEMBERS, IS THAT HERS WAS JUST AN
OUTLINE, IN OTHER WORDS, THE FACE AND SHOULDER WERE NOT FILLED IN BUT
HAD BEEN TRACED ALONG THE OUTLINE OF THE FACE ETC., SO WAS DONE,
PRESUMABLY, AT A TIME WHEN PHOTOCOPIERS WERE NOT SO PREVALENT.
