Dear James Downs, Just as I started looking for the ancestors of my Downs
grandchildren, my daugher Linda Bullen having married Steven Downs, the son of
Dale Downs, I hit your Ancestry. Plus pedigree, "Damn Downses". It told me who
the father of Dale Grant Downs was, i.e. Howard Grant Downs. What I was
wondering about is whether you have any idea were the name "Grant" came from.
Because Grant Downs (1862-1933) was born before Ulysses gained fame, there must be
some other reason besides using his name as so many did AFTER he became famous.
Also too, why did you name your site with the "Damn"? Where are you
connected? As far as we know, Howard had only one son, but because family lore has it
that he was married to two other women after Dale's mother, Helen Seward died,
nothing would surprise me. Any other family history would also be
