[Tenney1648-2.FTW]

[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #0875, Date of Import: Jul 19, 2004]

Ephraim studied medicine with his father and finally came to Providence, R.I., where he studied and lived for awhile with his uncle, Dr. Jabez Bowen. He then built a house on Market Square, where he lived until his death, owning the land up and over the hill (Now College Hill) and comprising the northern part of the land now occupied by Brown University, which was sold to the college later by Oliver Bowen, one of his sons. He was prominent in town affairs and from 1764-1790 was a trustee of Brown University. He was an intrepid patriot and statesman and his home was the meeting place for the "Daughters of Liberty".
