Howard worked as a train brakeman before his marriage. about 1904
He later became a dairy farmer for the rest of his life. He died sitting on his tractor which is where he loved to be. The farm was located along Rt 9W halfway between West Coxsackie and Ravena. There was a lot of acreage until the New York State Thruway was built and it went through the center of the property.
