Individual:
Eunice Jane Polk who married John Scrogin was a daughter of John Polk and Sarah Vaughn of Little Creek Hundred in Sussex County Delaware. John Polk was the son of Ephraim Polk I and a grandson of Robert Bruce Polk (Pollok Pollack Pollock) from whom also was an ancestor to US President James Knox Polk (11th President).
Eunice Polk Scrogin was a legatee of her father whose will was dated 29 April 1782 and proved 2 May 1788 in Sussex County Delaware.
It has not been determined how James Polk who married Nancy Scrogin was related to Eunice Polk who married John Scrogin. James was a brother to Josiah Polk. Another brother and legatee of Josiah Polk in 1784 was William Polk.
The Polk family had been members of the Rockawalkin Presbyterian Church as the Scrogins had been members.
