In 1820, migrated with parents and family from N. Carolina, to Bartholomew Co. Ind. Then, by 1822, to Parke Co.
Settled in Florence twp. Will Co. Ill. In. around 1830. He, and family are found in a census of Montgomery Co.Missouri in 1840.
In 1843, Lewis, and his wife, Jane, and their children crossed the country on the
Emegrant Trail to Oregon, in 1843.
Lewis was a teamster, and raised horses, some rare breeds.
