Subject: Re: Hoot Surname
Hi Tom,
My great grandmother Virginia Linebarger was the grand daughter of John
[Johannes] Linebarger and Mary Hoot [who married in North Carolina].
Linebarger was originally Leuenberger and at least some of the family in
North Carolina used the spelling Linebarger before moving west to Indiana,
Illinois and Oregon. Others wrote it down as Lineberger and the branch
which moved to the area in the vicinity of Luray, VA write it down as
Lyonberger.
