JOHAN GEORGE LINBACHER

S=Jacquelin Mc Laughlin, hwmjm@yahoo.com; [mclinvil.FTW]

In 1820, he sold out in N. C. and with a four horse team, he moved to Bartholomew Co. Ind. camping on the way. In the spring, of 1822 he moved again to reserve Twp. Parke Co. Ind. where he cleared 160 acres of timberland.
His possessions were increased to about four hundred acres. During his life he served as Constable, Justice of the Peace. While he was a young boy, in North Carolina, he insisted in going out with the men to fight the British at King's Mountain.

They were Lutherans, until they settled in Ind. Then they became connected with the Methodist Denomination, and were instrumental in establishing the first church of that faith in the county. The Linebarger Cemetery is located next to the Linebarger Chapel, of Methodist Denomination. On land donated by him. His was the first burial in what became the Linebarger Cemetary, Nr. West Union, and eight miles No. of Rockville, IN Co. seat of Park Co.

Harriet DeLaughter speaks of the Bible and Hymn Book that belonged toJohn and Mary. It says the Hymn book was published in 1807 in Germantown, Pa., and that John purchased it in 1811. The music is all written by John Linebarger!

Julianna (the mother of Mary), and Johannes Linebarger (the father of John) were brother and sister, making Mary Hoots, and John Linebarger, husband and wife, also first cousins!
