Individual:
Charles Hill Weidinger was born at North Lewisburgh, Ohio, on Saturday, 28 September 1912, and died of cardiac arrest at First Community Health Care Center in Columbus, on Tuesday, 10 February 1998, at age 85 years, 4 months, 12 days. My father and mother had lived a very happy 65 years of marriage. Dad served for an entire career (one of many) with North American Aviation and Rockwell International as a contracts administrator, retiring in 1976. His other endeavors had included a try at the insurance business, selling shoes (retail in Medina, Ohio), (wholesale on the road), breaking into the shoe store business early-on in Circleville, Ohio, and beginning as a clerk in a five-and-dime store.
His mother was a strict task master after having lost my grandfather. She denied my father a chance to accept an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, and also denied his opportunity for a scholarship in tennis to Wittenberg College (now university) in Ohio. Perhaps as a means to free himself from his mother's strict environment, having met and fallen in love with the young Florence Marie Jackson, my mother and dad ran off to Adrian, Michigan to be married on 30 March 1931.
