Dear Bob,
I am still working on corrections for James Fairbrother bu
t wanted to send you the info I sent to Karen Clark in Michigan what I have found on the Arnolds. There are still many small towns in ME that do not have their V.R. recorded in the archives - they tell me it is a great job for a retired "genie" - I guess I'll have to succumb to the computer age! Anyway, Cornville & Skowhegan are two of those. I got lucky one day & found Ruby (Fairbrother) Mackey, Lovell Jr's. Dtr. from his 1\super st\nosupersub marriage to Lydia Bragg. Ruby disappeared from my radar after her appearance in 1830 census. - I did find her later. Margaret married to a Darling in Aroostook Cty, (Moro) that you have. On this day, I found a marriage in Cornville in 1833 for Mrs. Ruby Mackey and Columbus Bragg of Skowhegan. They show up in 1840 census in Palmyra then disappear. On a hunch, I checked for any Bragg's in 1850 in "The County" - No Columbus Bragg found but there was only one found in Penobscot Cty., named Thomas Bragg. Guess what - it is very near Moro - called Staceyville - and Ruby has at least 7 more kids, mostly boys - they should have called in Braggville. They all seem to marry & stay there 2 to 3 generations. Anyway, ruby & Columbus Thomas Bragg are in 1850 & 1860, and then Columbus is alone with 2 kids left at home 1870; 1880, Columbus is not there. I have found some things via their children's marriages & deaths but there are no MOCA records on Staceyville in the library - nice spring day trip 2 hours north might help. It is not a big town. I'm going to look at a Thomas Bragg early in China, ME (Harlem in the old days), for possible parents - his children list his birth as China, ME but nobody seems to know Ruby's maiden name or where she was born (Sydney?)!The other thing I found is a clear parent connection for Mi
riam Jewell - I found it in old V.R. for Mercer while looking for Arnolds. Apparently her parents were born in Sandwich, NH; Sargent Jewell & Miriam Page. Child: Nancy B. 1786, Mary b. 1792, David b. 1795, Abigail b. 1798, Sargent Jr b. 1801 & Miriam b. Mt. Vernon 16 Nov. 1806, Harriet b. 1810 d. 1811. Miriam marries Reuben Fairbrother, son of James. ….Karen Marsh
