Puritans found towns throughout Mass and New England. Many historians believe that the population remained mostly homogenous English Puritans; however, during the Puritan Common Wealth in England many Puritans returned to England and the Puritan emigration from England virtually stopped by 1660.
1634: The first Inn, was Samuel Coleis Inn which oped on Washington Street becoming the first tavern in Boston. Later renamed Ship Tavern, and the Great Fire of 1711 starts in the rear of that tavern
1636 Harvard College: is founded in Newtown ( now Cambridge)

Hi Joyce,
Sarah Stanton married Thomas Prentice Jr in 1675. The line from Lion Gardiner also connects. Sarah is the daugher of Thomas Stanton of CT. Can't connect Stevens or Bridge. A later Sarah Stanton b. 1737/1738 in Preston CT m. Eleazer Prentice in 1758. She is also from my line thru John Stanton and Desire Denison
