Individual:
The picture came from Blanche Gorrell who would be Nicholas Carpenter's great granddaughter. Blanche is now in her early nineties. Blanche's mother was a nurse and died in the 1918 flu epidemic. She was then raised by Ellen Carpenter Sanders, Nicholas's daughter - her grandmother.... in Roseville, California. Blanche picked up the picture from Ellen's belongings.
Blanche is the one with the stories about Nicholas. Her grandmother Ellen told Blanche that Nicholas's third wife murdered him by feeding him poison in some white sauce. This third wife wanted to marry the next door neighbor who she was "bedding"... Hey, do you think we could prove that?... just jesting.
So the picture is of Nicholas whose first wife was Elizabeth Jackson... His second wife was Abigail Scoops (who is my ancestor). and his third wife was Frances Rugg.
