He was on 1883 list of pensioners #21, 164 residence
Fayette Court House, Alabama.

War of 1812 widow, I hereby report the name of Zilpha
Hollingsworth, Widow of John Hollingsworth, Lt. in Capt. John
Waters Co., Georgia Militia who was a pensioner of the rolls of
the Agency, under Certificate No. 31478 and was last paid at
$12.00 to 4 February, 1894 has been dropped because of failure to
claim.

The State of Alabama, Fayette County. On this 30th Dec.
1850 before Thomas Wolstan-Holme, J. P. appeared John
Hollingsworth aged fifty-eight years, a resident of Fayette Co.,
Ala. who declares that he was a 3rd Lt. in the Co. contended by
Lt. Samuel Groves in War of 1812, that he volunteered at Franklin
County Ga. on or about the 15th day of Nov. 1814 for 6 months and
continued in actual service for 6 mo. & 14 days; he was honorably
discharged at Fort Hawkins Ga. on or about 25 May, 1815. He
states that he received no certificate of discharge, but he
referred to the nwster rolls of said company for the truth of the
foregoing: John Hollingsworth.

The State of Ala., Fayette Co. On this the 20 day of July, 1854
appeared John Hollingsworth aged 63 years in Sept. next, a
resident of Fayette Co. , Ala. who declares that he was a Lt. in
the Company commanded by Captain John Watters in Georgia Regiment
of Volunteers commanded by Col. Groves in the War of 1812;
(repeats service), that he has heretofore made application under
Act of Sept. 27, 1850 and received a land warrant No 19, 183 for
30 acres which he has since legally disposed of and cannot now
return. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining
additional bounty to which he may be entitled under act of March
3, 1855. He also declared that he has never applied for nor
received under this or any other act of Congress, any bounty land
warrant except the one above mentioned. Signed... John

outside Folder No. 29, Oct 11, 1873 The rolls of Capt. LJohn
Walter's Co., Ga. Militia show that John Hollingsworth served as
Lt. from 21 November 1814 to 20 May, 1815.

War of 1812 -- CLAIM OF WIDOW FOR SERVICE PENSION.
State of Alabama, Fayette Co.
On this 14th March 1881 before Holland M. Bell, Judge of Probate
appeared Zilpha Hollingsworth, aged 71, a resident of Fayette
Co., Ala. who declares she is the widow of John Hollingsworth, a
Lt. in Captain Walters Co., Ga. Militia commnded by Col. Booth,
War of 1812, that he enlisted in Franklin Co., Ga. on or about
the 15 Nov., 1814 for 6 mo. and served 6 mos.; honorably
discharged at Fort Hawkins, Ga. on 10 May, 1815. A full
description of her husband at time of enlistment; 6 ft. I in.
tall, blue eyes; fair complexion and dark hair. She states she
was married to John Hollingsworth in Fayette Co., Ala. on 11
October, 1827 by one William Ennis, J. P. That her name before
said marriage was Zilpha Galloway. That he had been married to
Matilda White who died August 25, 1825. That John Hollingsworth
died in Fayette Co., Ala. 30 November, 1880. Places of residence
since discharge; Fayette Co., Ala. and State of Georgia, Franklin
Co. and have both lived in Fayette Co., Ala. since the year 1827.
Her P. 0. is New River, Fayette Co., Ala. Signed: Zilpha
Hollingsworth. Thomas D. Ennis, aged 60 and Andrew McCaleb, 68,
both of Fayette Co., Ala. certify that they have known Zilpha
Hollingsworth for 53 and 53 years respectively. Thos. D. Ennis
saw them married; Andrew McCaleb has known them ever since their
marriage.

WAR OF 1812 DECLARATION OF SOLDIER FOR PENSION
State of Ala., Fayette Co. On this 15th day of September 1873
before B. W. Wilson, Judge of Probate, appeared John
Hollingsworth aged eighty-one years, a resident of Fayette Co.,
Ala. and declares he is married, that his wife's name was Zilpha
Galloway to whom he was married in Fayette Co., Ala. on
October 1827; that he enlisted in Capt. John Walters Co. Col.
Groves Regiment McIntosh's Brigade at Franklin Co., Ga. on Nov.
-1 1814 and was honorably discharged at Fort Hawkins on or about
12 May, 1815. That they were at Mobile when peace was made. John
John "X" (his mark) Hollingsworth.

Migrated to Fayette County from Franklin County (Habersham) Georgia in 1820's. He was a veteran of the war of 1812 and was entitled as such to land grant rights. He exercised these rights and eventually acquired some 2,000 acres of good "bottom land" at the foot of Ford's mountain and continuing to what is known as the community of New River. He was evidently a very successful farmer. He was also recognized as a community leader. He is buried in the Hollingsworth Cemetary on Ford's mountain. He fathered 24 children by 2 wives.[agnes1.ftw]
