John Thompson, CE Co., d. leaving a will dated 10 Dec 1701 and proved 4 July
1702. To son Richard, dwell. plant. on Back Creek, Elk River. To son John, tracts
Corobrough and Dunbar. To son Augustine, 300 a. tract Middle Plantation and
house in town on Sassafras River. To son Robert, plant on Back Creek in
Sassafras River and tract Savin's Rest on Bohemia River. Todau. Jeane, house
at New Castle and 1/3 of a farm in New York belonging jointly to testator and
Col. Bayard. To wife Judith, extx. and children afsd., personal estate. Witnesses:
John Boyter, Christian Boyter. Elizabeth Brockson, Martin Muggenbory.
Following the death of John Thompson Judith m. John Dowdall; no issue.
On 1 July 1736 Richard Dowdall of KE Co., for 290 pounds, sold to Augustine
Thompson of QA Co., a Negro woman named Hillis and her children, three
Negro men named Ceaser, Hector and REadriff, one Negro boy named Andrew,
30 head of cattle, 18 sheep, etc. 1 July 1736.
Marriage: Col. John Thompson m. Judith Herman, dau. of Augustine Herman.
